Summer Program

The FOCUS Summer Program is a day camp designed to meet the special needs of the people we serve. The program provides day habilitation and hourly respite services for young people with disabilities from age 6 to young adult. In operation for over a decade, the Summer Program meets the needs of many local families. The staff and participants work together to create a nurturing, supportive environment full of fun and meaningful activity.

The Summer Program runs for 9 weeks every summer, during the months of June and July. The program runs from 9:00 – 4:30, Monday through Thursday. Each day starts and ends at the Eagle River Lions Club, in an accessible clubhouse complete with softball fields and a playground. Once everyone is gathered for the day, they split into groups and head out into the community with trained staff. Activities range from horseback riding, soccer, softball, bowling, arts & crafts, games, and special trips out of town to Portage Glacier, H2Oasis, and other fun locales.

Families and friends are invited to attend the annual Fun for All event on the last day of the program each summer. This is a carnival style affair with cotton candy, a cake walk, dunk tank, a giant inflatable slide… and games & prizes for everyone!

Staffing support and transportation for the Summer Program are provided through individual Medicaid Waiver or grant funding. Individuals with services outside of Focus are able to attend with one on one support from their own providers.

Scholarships are also available – contact Amber Petersen at FOCUS to find out more. Each participant is responsible for an activity fee of $5.00 per day, which goes toward the costs of outings and snacks.
