Hello! My name is Abby and I am an Occupational Therapist. I began working at Focus in October, 2019 when my family and I moved to Chugiak. I grew up in Glennallen as a missionary kid, living the full Alaskan life of hunting, catching salmon in a fishwheel, and walking to school in -45-degree weather. I ventured out of Alaska for my bachelors, studying Exercise Science at Milligan College in Tennessee. I had planned on staying in the south to pursue OT, but I missed my family and I missed Alaska. I moved back and lived in Anchorage while working on my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. I graduated in December 2014 and moved to Fairbanks. I worked full time at a pediatric outpatient clinic and part time at the hospital. Shortly after my husband and I were married in 2016, we moved to North Pole and I switched to full time at the hospital. While working at the hospital, I developed skills in inpatient, outpatient, and short-term rehab. Pediatric OT has always had a huge place in my heart, which is part of why we decided to move, to allow me to return to working with kids, as well as to have more time with our two girls. As a family, we love making forts in the living room, reading books, playing outside, and having adventures together.
