Summer Camp with Focus Outreach
The experience of Summer Camp is one that every person should have the opportunity to experience, regardless of ability. Attending camp has many benefits, and gives children and young adults the opportunity to develop social skills, confidence, build teamwork skills with peers, and learn to make daily choices in a safe and caring environment.
Campers also have the opportunity to develop artistic skills, adventure skills, and experience success that boosts self-confidence while making life-long friends! Camp provides exciting opportunities to be outside and experience the many wonderful activities that Alaska has to offer!
FOCUS offers an eight week long Summer Camp that runs 9:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Thursday.
The morning typically begins with the group singing songs together and preparing for the day’s activities. Each week has a schedule of activities that is created by a certified and trained Recreational Therapist, and there is sure to be an activity for everyone! Activities at camp include arts and crafts, team building activities, sports, fishing, organized games, swimming, science experiments and more!
Aside from on-site activities, the group also goes on fun outings into the community, such as visits to state parks, Eklutna Lake, the Anchorage Zoo, the Alaska Botanical Gardens, museums and more!
All participants of FOCUS’s Summer Camp receive services through Medicaid Waiver and Grants services.
